Vancouver Island Reflections

22 November – 24 December 2019
Opening Reception Friday 22 November, 7–9 pm

“As a regular visitor to Vancouver Island, Canada, I have each time been interested in photographing the harbours and, in particular, the painted house boats of Fisherman’s Wharf in Victoria. The Vancouver Island Reflections series I am exhibiting at PHOTIQ capture water reflections of harbour scenes photographed over short time sequences, often blending four or more frames in order to intensify the patterns reflected in the water. The subjects remain recognisable, yet have an abstract quality, which results from the movement in the fractions of a second that elapse between each photograph. The merged compositions are like multiple movie frames blended together, capturing brief snapshots of time in a single image.”
